SAS star Sam Burgess' rumoured salary is the highest of any celebrity

SAS Australia is again in full swing with a bunch of celebrities trying their hand at some of the hardest military tests in the world.

And while we've already seen a few bow out of the brutal competition - Brynne Edelsten, Erin Holland, and Manu Feildel - of course none of them go home empty handed.

However, it's been revealed that former NRL star Sam Burgess' SAS Australia salary for taking part is reportedly the highest of anyone in this year’s cast, which still includes Home & Away star Dan Ewing, singer/actor Bonnie Anderson, and Dual Olympian Jana Pittman.

Before the show aired it was rumoured his pay packet for taking part in the gruelling military challenge would be a massive $150K, according to New Idea.

Compare that to what the majority of last year's contestants were given, with most of them receiving between $30,000 and $50,000.

The 32-year-old, who is referred to as ‘Number 16’ on the series, has already gone through an intense interrogation with the show’s instructors, in which he confessed to an affair during his marriage.

Viewers were also left 'physically sick' after watching him compete in a particularly gruelling challenge, where he was required to crawl through a 25 metre underground wormhole.

The 2020 season of the show featured the likes of ex-Bachelor Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins, ex-Bachelorette Ali Oetjen, and PR giant Roxy Jacenko.

But one contestant reportedly earned between $80K-$100K, still less than Sam's rumoured pay packet.

That was convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby, with a source telling New Idea at the time that "she and [sister] Mercedes were able to talk the numbers up, as Seven saw Schapelle as a real coup for publicity."
