A few years ago, in a bout of what I can only describe as culinary insanity, I decided to tackle the precarious task of making my partner custom fortune cookies for Valentine’s Day. Armed with nothing more than the arrogant chef-y attitude customary among culinarians, I gathered my ingredients and got to work.
Fueled by the noxious fumes of Cupid’s perfume, I mixed and swirled, baked and folded my way into the wee hours of the night, anxious to share my creation with the love of my life. Once I finished, I put everything into a jar with a cheeky note that said, “How’d I get so fortunate?” Cue the dreamy, slightly blurry heart-filled montage.

Worth it? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Probably not. Not that it wasn’t fun to try something new. And full disclosure, I’ve made them again—albeit not as successfully. But making your own fortune cookies from scratch can be time-consuming and less than foolproof. You’ve got to work quickly, perfect a finicky batter, and above all else, have will of steel. We think we’ll leave this one to the professionals.
Fortunately, Sam’s Club has just the thing if you’re looking to surprise your love bug with sweet fortune cookies of their very own—and you won’t have to lift a finger in the process. Adorable takeout boxes of the Classroom Fortune Cookie Exchange Set started popping up on shelves, and @samsclub_doesitagain is sharing all the details.
Included in the set you’ll receive 24 individually wrapped pink fortune cookies with a variety of fortunes inside and three sticker sheets consisting of eight stickers each. Additionally, the wrapper includes “To” and “From” sections allowing you or your kiddo to write in your own custom lovey dovey message. Best of all, you can snag the entire box for just $9.96—or about $0.41 cents per fortune cookie.
With all the time we’ll save with these, maybe we’ll try our hand at making a Valentine’s Day croquembouche this year. You know, just to keep things interesting.
