Sam Asghari Has A Surprising Reaction To Britney Spears' Knife-Dancing Video
Sam Asghari seems to have a lot of empathy for his ex-wife, Britney Spears.
On Wednesday, the Iranian-born model appeared on “The Viall Files” podcast and was asked about the “Toxic” singer’s notorious knife-dancing video she posted to Instagram in September 2023.
Spears shared the notorious video to social media after Asghari had filed for divorce from Spears the month prior.
In the video, Spears dances to Enigma’s 1990 hit, “Sadeness,” while flinging around two butcher knives in her underwear and a crop top as her dogs watch her.
During Asghari’s interview, host Nick Viall couldn’t help but ask the model for his reaction to the video — and Asghari’s response was pretty refreshing.
“I’m not someone that’s, ‘Let me take your phone from you and not allow you to do anything and restrict you from posting your own content,’“ Asghari said.
“And, especially if you’re an artist, I think, you know, we’re talking about — she’s a genius artist. What’s in her head is gold, and it’s what made her who she is.”
“So when you take away the ability to, you know, make art [to] express yourself, I’m not going to be the one that’s going to stop anybody from posting whatever they want. Especially if dance is the way you express yourself,” he continued.
Asghari began dating Spears in 2016 amid her highly restrictive and exploitative 2008 conservatorship, in which her father, Jamie Spears, a woman named Jodi Montgomery, and the group Bessemer Trust basically controlled every aspect of her life.
In June 2021, Spears testified to a judge overseeing her conservatorship that she felt silenced to speak about her true feelings regarding the legal arrangement. She also accused her conservators of being “abusive” and said they forced her to perform and be on birth control despite her desire to have a baby.
Later that year in November, the 13-year conservatorship was terminated.
