Sam Armytage's bombshell Sunrise confession during chat with TV rival
Former Sunrise host Sam Armytage has made some bombshell confessions about her time on the program during a chat with morning TV rival Karl Stefanovic.
Speaking on her Something to Talk About podcast, the former host revealed there were comments she made on-air that would see her "cancelled" today, and once got away with being drunk while reporting.
"There were some things I said on-air that I probably would be cancelled for now, that I got away with," she said during her interview with Karl.
"I shouldn't say 'got away with' because they weren't outrageous, they were perhaps just not popular or conservative so they would be shouted down now."
Sam then added that "we've all been on-air drunk", but she claimed nobody knew she was intoxicated when she reported from Buckingham Palace during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations after she went out for lunch.
"I was sneaky, I didn't get written up in the papers – nobody knew," she said.

Sam said she had to learn a few hard lessons working on morning TV, and said to Karl "I don't know anyone, outside of me, who's had more b******t written about them than you have".
Sam announced in March last year she would be leaving the popular breakfast program after sharing hosting duties with David 'Kochie' Koch for eight years.
"I want to take a break and find some peace and calm. I go out of this job at a time of my own choosing and on top of the ratings, which not many people on television can say they do," she said in a statement at the time.
Breaking down in tears when she made the announcement on-air, she said the last six months in the gig had been "bittersweet".
"Some bits have been very happy and some bits have been very, very sad and I want to step out of this public world for a while, take some time and calm things down. Enjoy a bit of slow living and spend some time with my previous family and husband and Banjo," she added.
Speaking on her podcast to Karl, she said she had not regretted her decision to leave Sunrise but "missed having a voice".
