Sunrise hosts Nat and Kochie take subtle dig at Channel Nine rival

Sunrise hosts Natalie Barr and David Koch did not hold back as they took a cheeky swipe at Channel Nine during a segment on Wednesday morning.

The program's consumer correspondent Shaun White delivered a report on how Covid has led to people chucking sickies and taking advantage of workplaces before the hosts made the subtle jab.

Following the report, Shaun told the Sunrise hosts he had chucked a sickie, but it was at a different network so "I don't think it matters".

Nat then gasped and said, "You used to work at Channel Nine", before her co-host Kochie laughed as Nat added, "Just saying, busted".

"It's good you saw the light Shaun," Nat said, before Kochie added, "Now he's become honest".

"You've never done it again," Nat quipped.

ABC hosts subtle swipe at Today show

Channel Nine has been copping it from its rivals this week, with ABC News Breakfast host Micheal Rowland taking a subtle swipe at his Today rivals Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon.

After beating Nine's breakfast show every day last week for the first time in 13 years, Michael, who co-hosts the show with Lisa Millar, told TV Tonight, "The result reflects our key point of difference to the other shows. We don't have 'News' in our title for nothing."

"It is really pleasing to see viewers coming to us for information and analysis, particularly in the election campaign. And of course, they still get some laughs!"
