The comedy was a family affair.
Rob Lowe and son John Owen Lowe's Netflix series Unstable has been canceled by the streamer after two seasons, EW has confirmed.
Father and son were both creators, producers, and stars of the comedy about a son living in the shadow of his genius father, as the two attempt to save the family business. The show, which premiered in 2023, aired for two seasons. Aaron Branch, Sian Clifford, Emma Ferreira, and Rachel Marsh costarred.

EW has reached out to Netflix and reps for both Rob and John Owen Lowe.
Deadline, the first outlet to report the news, noted that the second season of the series had failed to break into the Netflix Top 10 — the streamer's most popular pieces of content — when it debuted Aug. 1.
The two had worked together earlier on projects including Rob Lowe's former Fox series The Grinder and 9-1-1: Lonestar. Fox announced in September that the latter will conclude after the fifth season, which is underway.
The younger Lowe explained in July that starring alongside his dad on Unstable had sometimes been a challenge.
"Like two weeks into filming the first season," John Owen told Andy Cohen on his Radio Andy, "I had a legitimate little mental breakdown. Like, I walked off set, and I went into my trailer, and I went 'Oh, s---.' I was trying to become my own person and get distance away from him, and I am now his costar. My face is next to his on a one-sheet, and I will be doing press with him. It was like all these realizations dawned on me."
