“RHONY”'s Rebecca Minkoff Reveals the Unconventional Deal She Made with Her Parents at 16 Involving Drugs and Sex
The fashion designer also told her fellow Housewives she still had the "bed" she lost her virginity on when she was a teen
Rebecca Minkoff once passed up drugs for sex.
On the Oct. 15 episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, the famed fashion designer, 42, was filling in her fellow cast members about how she ended up in New York when she revealed an unconventional pact she made with her parents when she was just a teen.
Rebecca recalled how her plans to move to the Big Apple were almost thwarted when she and her ex broke up just days before they were supposed to move in together when she was 18. The Bravolebrity, who had been living in Florida at the time, was out of a place to live as she had promised her previous residence to her high school boyfriend Brad.
"I lost my virginity to Brad," Rebecca shared when the Housewives sounded off about her ex. "So we like Brad. I lost my virginity at 16, because my parents had a really great deal. They said, 'If you don't do drugs, we'll get you birth control pills.' And I was like, 'Sign me up!'"
Her costars reacted in shock and shared they didn't think the parenting choice was "normal." When Jenna Lyons asked if she would give her daughter, Bowie, 9, she replied, "I'd make that deal with her."
In a conversation with cameras, Jenna reflected on her own relationship with her son Bennett and whether or not she'd allow him the same opportunity as Rebecca's parents.
"I grew up in California, and so it was mostly about drinking and driving," the former J. Crew director said of her own upbringing. "But like, the idea that I would condone sex at 16? It's all like too much. I have a 17-year-old kid, like I can't even imagine giving him ... Oh, God."
Rebecca then made another candid admission and revealed that she still had the "bed" she had sex on for the first time.
"You have the bed? You kept the bed?" Erin Lichy asked while Jenna clarified, "Not the mattress?"
"No, not the mattress," Rebecca scoffed. "The bed frame. It's not sentimental, it's right there and it's easy. No, I wasn't like this is my virgin bed."
