Looks like Reese Witherspoon has a new man in her life.
According to a report from People published yesterday, Reese is dating private equity financier Oliver Haarmann. Multiple insiders confirmed the news to the outlet, including one who claimed that the romance is “casual.”
We know little about Oliver besides that he’s German and one of the cofounders of Searchlight Capital Partners. He also appears to be a co-owner of the NHL’s New York Islanders.
The new report came after Reese and Oliver were seen walking hand-in-hand at an event in New York City on Wednesday, marking the second time the pair have been seen together since the end of July.
After Reese and Oliver were spotted together for the first time this summer, an insider told People that the Morning Show star was “taking things slow when it comes to dating” following her divorce from Jim Toth.
“She enjoys it but doesn't want it to be a big focus,” the source said of Reese’s dating life.
In case you need reminding, Reese and Jim — who share an 11-year-old son named Tennessee — announced their separation on social media in March 2023 after nearly 12 years of marriage.
A few months after filing for divorce, Reese discussed the split during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, reflecting on how it differed from her separation from her first husband, Ryan Phillippe, in the 2000s.
Reese and Ryan were married for seven years and welcomed two children, Ava and Deacon. They announced their split in 2006, and their divorce was finalized in 2008.
“When I was divorced before, the tabloid media got to tell people how I was feeling or how I was processing, and it felt very out of control,” she said, acknowledging how social media has given public figures the ability to get ahead of the narrative, particularly when it comes to breakups.
“To be able to talk to people directly about what’s going on in my life and just share it in the way that I share great professional experiences or personal experiences, it feels much more authentic to be able to say things in my own voice and not let somebody else control what’s happening,” she added.
Reese confessed that she was going through a “vulnerable time” and said: “All I can do is be my most honest, forthright self and be vulnerable.”
