'Paid to be bigger': Rebel Wilson's stunning weight loss claim
Rebel Wilson has stunned fans with the revelation that she was paid not to lose weight for a large part of her career.
The Aussie comedian revealed she is now pursuing a fitter, healthier lifestyle for herself after years of being “paid a lot of money” to maintain a higher weight.
The actress – who found fame playing Fat Amy in the Pitch Perfect movies - told The Sun that bosses have paid her to remain larger in the past but that it “can mess with your head a bit”.
Now 40 after her birthday in March, Rebel says she has decided to focus on her own wellbeing, but rejects the idea of pursuing a weight-loss goal.
“It's not like I want to lose weight and get to around a certain number,” she said.
“It's more than that, it's about dealing mentally with why I was overeating and I had a job where I was paid a lot of money to be bigger, at times which kind of can mess with your head a bit.”
Wilson said she is now “trying to work on the mental side” as well as her nutrition and exercising.
In January, the Australian star posted a picture on Instagram showing her heading out for a walk on the beach as she announced that 2020 was “going to be called ‘The Year of Health’” for her.
“I put on the athleisure and went out for a walk, deliberately hydrating on the couch right now and trying to avoid the sugar and junk food which is going to be hard after the holidays I’ve just had but I’m going to do it!” she told her fans.
Rebel got her big break in Pitch Perfect but is also known for films such as Bridesmaids, What To Expect When You’re Expecting and Cats.
