Real reason Reese Witherspoon split with husband: 'Really changed'

Reese Witherspoon, 47, shocked fans when she took to Instagram this weekend to announce she and her husband, Jim Toth, 52 are parting ways.

In the joint statement, Reese and Jim wrote: "We have some personal news to share... It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.

"Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time."

The pair share their son Tennessee, 10, with their announcement coming just two days before their 12th wedding anniversary.

Now, an alleged friend of the family has claimed the reason the pair split is because Jim is "no longer the same man" that Reese married.

The insider claims Jim began "dressing like someone half his age" with "weird jewellery and tattoos".

"Jim is the one who has changed massively just in the last few years. Jim just isn't the guy Reese married and had a son with anymore," the friend told The Sun.

They claimed that after Reese and Jim sold their production company Hello Sunshine for almost $1 billion in 2021, the money sent them "in different directions".

"His personality, his attitude and his whole take on life really changed when he got out of the agency business and decided he was tired of that stuffy world and being in the service business in general," they added. "Call it a midlife crisis if you want but that's when the tattoos, the chunky, weird jewellery, and dressing like somebody half his age really took hold."

According to Page Six, the pair's split is due to the fact their marriage became platonic.

"There’s no big scandal or drama, just two people who essentially became co-parents and don’t really have any romantic feelings for each other anymore," an insider revealed.

They added that there was "zero spark and zero romance left" between Reese and Jim towards the end of the marriage.

"She’s also become so much more powerful than she was when they married and has expanded her areas of interest in so many ways," they said.

Another source shared that the pair have yet to actually file for divorce and "will keep working together" and are "both completely laser-focused" on their partnerships as parents and colleagues.
