The reimagined Datejust takes inspiration specifically from “TiFFANY.” The song, featuring fellow rapper Gunna, has garnered nearly 9 million listens on Spotify since dropping on September 13. The watch could create a similar stir, providing a fresh take on a classic Rolex model that was first released in 1945.
“The new Tiffany Datejust 2:22 blends traditional elements with modern accents,” IDK told Robb Report.
The timepiece notably features a “Tiffany Blue” dial, meaning it is finished in a turquoise that closely resembles the signature, robin’s-egg blue hue of Tiffany & Co. Watches with turquoise dials have been all the rage since the release of the highly sought-after Patek Phillipe x Tiffany & Co. Nautilus Ref. 5711 in 2021. Rolex did, however, turn blue first, adding a turquoise dial to the Oyster Perpetual line in 2020. The Swiss watchmaker currently only offers turquoise dials on two Oyster Perpetual models (Ref. 126000 and Ref. 277200), making this “Tiffany Blue” Datejust quite a catch.
Neither Tiffany nor Rolex collaborated on this particular piece. IDK instead teamed up with Los Angeles-based jeweler Ofer Saha. “The design process was straightforward, as I’ve previously collaborated with Ofer ‘Big O’ Saha on jewelry projects,” he explains. The one-off features a sleek, stainless steel case, a black patent crocodile leather band, and a custom engraving on the caseback. “The iconic ‘Tiffany blue’ dial is complemented by black detailing and a lime green second hand, creating a visual contrast,” IDK adds.
So, why is the rapper giving away his custom new Rolex? “In a world where it’s becoming increasingly hard to reach new fans, we want to focus on creating a community and nurturing the people who already love what we do,” the rapper explains. “I envisioned this watch as a collectible art piece, adding to the collection of items I’ve created in the past—like Game Boys, sneakers, and merchandise.”
To qualify, fans should join IDK’s Discord community and listen to his new songs on Last.fm. One of the top streamers will receive the custom watch, a signed certificate of authenticity from IDK, and two lifetime passes to all his future shows and events. The competition wraps up on Friday, October 4.
