Rachel Dratch as Debbie Downer on 'Saturday Night Live'Debbie Downer is back, and she's worse than ever.
Rachel Dratch revived her most iconic Saturday Night Live character during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Dratch was the last in a group of five SNL alums to debut her Real Housewives tagline parody, spoofing the franchise's tradition of the housewives introducing themselves with a catty one-liner.
"I'm an upper in the streets and a Downer in the sheets," Dratch said to thunderous applause. She held up her finger, indicating that she wasn't finished. "And those sheets are crawling with dust mites."
The episode then played the signature "womp womp womp womp" sound effect that always accompanied Debbie Downer's party-pooping pessimism on SNL.

Other SNL alums also gave their best Housewives-esque taglines just before Dratch's mic-drop moment. Cheri Oteri, who was part of the SNL cast from 1995 to 2000, mimed a teapot gesture as she said, "I'm a spillin' teacup, short and stout. You think you can handle my housewife clout?"

Cecily Strong — who performed on SNL from 2012 to 2022, and is currently pregnant with her first child — rubbed her belly as she said, "I may have expensive taste, but right now, I'm two bitches for the price of one."
And Laraine Newman, who was on SNL for its first five seasons, boasted, "I'm the OG of 8H. Everyone else is just a copy."

Dratch first performed Debbie Downer on SNL in 2004 in a sketch that saw the gloomy character ruin a family trip to Walt Disney World. The sketch also featured Fred Armisen, Jimmy Fallon, Amy Poehler, Horatio Sanz, and host Lindsay Lohan.
The comedian reprised the character in six subsequent sketches over her tenure as a cast member, performing opposite hosts like Ben Affleck, Jack Black, and Steve Carell. She then brought the character back during cameos in a 2010 ep hosted by Betty White, the 2015 40th anniversary special, and a 2020 episode hosted by Daniel Craig.
