Queen's granddaughter Zara Tindall gives birth on bathroom floor

The Queen’s granddaughter, Zara Tindall, has given birth to her third child on the bathroom floor of her home.

Zara and her husband, Mike Tindall, who are already parents to seven-year-old Mia and two-year-old Lena, have welcomed a son together, Lucas Philip Tindall.

"The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news and look forward to meeting their 10th Great Grandchild when circumstances allow,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

However, it wasn’t an easy labour for Zara, with her first son arriving into the world quite dramatically.

Former England rugby star Mike Tindall revealed on his podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby: “A little baby boy arrived at my house.”

"Fortunately, Zara's friend Dolly, she is more important than I am, she's been at every one of my children's births.

“She was there and recognised that we wouldn't have got to hospital in time.

"So it was run into the gym, get a mat, get into the bathroom, get the mat on the floor, brace, brace, brace."

Mike said a midwife arrived at their home just in time to deliver the baby.

“Z had contractions through the night, she hadn't slept well the night before, so we had someone take the kids for the day,” he said.

He continued saying Zara “was back up” and went for a walk the next day.

Mike also revealed that having skin-on-skin contact with his newborn at home meant he could take his son into the living room to watch sport straight away.

He said both of their daughters are “over the moon” at the arrival of their brother and two-year-old Lena keeps trying to pick him up saying “my baby”.

The former rugby star shared the happy news of the impending arrival of the “third Tindall” in his weekly podcast back in December.

“It’s been a good week for me, had a little scan last week – third Tindall on its way,” Mike revealed.

In the chat he also admitted he would love a boy this time, with the couple already having two children - Mia, six, and Lena, two.

“I’d like a boy this time, I’ve got two girls, I would like a boy,” he said. “I’ll love it whether a boy or a girl – but please be a boy.”

The safe arrival of their third child is particularly good news for the family as Zara has suffered two miscarriages in the past.

She suffered her first just before Christmas 2016 when she was four months pregnant, and another before her second daughter Lena was born in 2018.
