Queen returns to Windsor for 'light duties' after taking time to rest

The Queen has officially returned to Windsor castle for 'light duties' after taking time to rest on doctors orders in Sandringham.

The 95-year-old monarch spent the last few nights at her Norfolk estate, and was pictured on Tuesday returning home, The Sun reports.

Doctors have told the Queen to remain on “light duties” for two weeks after spending a night in hospital last month.

It's been reported she will miss Saturday’s annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.

But Buckingham Palace has said it is the Queen’s “firm intention” to lead the royal family’s tributes at Sunday’s Remembrance commemorations at the Cenotaph in London.

The Queen recently pulled out of a meeting with world leaders at the Cop26 climate change gathering in Glasgow after being advised to rest. Instead, she recorded a video message for the summit.

The Queen's diary will be 'carefully examined' and under 'constant review' into 2022, with royal sources saying they have been instructed to take a 'careful and cautious' approach when planning Her Majesty's commitments.

Palace officials will create engagements for the Queen based on how she's feeling and whether she would need to travel or not.

That was after The UK Telegraph suggested that Her Majesty will from now on be accompanied by another member of the royal family on any royal outings, who can "step in" in case she needs "company or assistance".

The Queen spent a night at King Edward VII Hospital in London "as a precaution" recently where she was assessed for symptoms of gastroenteritis, and underwent 'preliminary tests'. She was discharged in "good spirits" the following day.
