Queen Rania of Jordan is embracing her new role as a grandmother to a real-life princess.

On Aug. 13, the Queen of Jordan, 53, shared a relaxed snap with her first grandchild, a baby girl named Princess Iman, who was born on Aug. 3. In the image shared on social media, Queen Rania sat on a chair with her feet up while holding the first child of her son Crown Prince Hussein and his wife, Princess Rajwa. Her husband, King Abdullah, sat opposite her, leaning back on a couch.

"With the chick," Queen Rania began the caption on Instagram, per a translation from Arabic. "So much cuteness in my arms," she added in English.

The snap showed a rare glimpse of the royal couple off-duty, sporting casual clothes (Queen Rania even took off her slippers to rest her feet on an ottoman!) for a look behind the scenes at their personal lives.

The Jordanian royal family expanded when Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa, both 30, welcomed their first child earlier this month. Their new chapter as parents came a little more than a year after they tied the knot in a June 2023 wedding attended by royalty from around the world including Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Royal Hashemite Court announced the baby would officially be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. Iman is an Arabic name meaning "belief" and "faith," and the little princess shares her moniker with another family member: Crown Prince Hussein's 27-year-old sister is also named Iman.

Despite her status as the firstborn child of the heir to the throne, Princess Iman did not enter into the line of succession. According to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's constitution, the throne is hereditary to the dynasty of King Abdullah Ibn Al-Hussein and passes through males. Crown Prince Hussein is followed by his 19-year-old brother, Prince Hashem, while their sisters Princess Iman and Princess Salma, 23, are not in the line of succession.

In lieu of gifts upon their daughter's birth, Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa asked well-wishers to consider donating to the Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans. The organization founded by Queen Rania in 2003 helps fund education for orphaned youth over age 18.

The couple was all smiles when they left King Hussein Medical Center with their baby girl on Aug. 7. Hussein displayed his new dad moves, carrying his daughter and buckling her carrier into a car, reminiscent of Princess Kate and Prince William's hospital departure when Prince George, now 11, was born in 2013.
