Producers Guild Awards Reveals Children’s, Shortform, Sports & Documentary Nominations – Update

UPDATED, 10 AM: The Producers Guild of America continues to roll out the nominees for its 2025 PGA Awards, with the children’s, shortform and sports categories being revealed today. See the list and read more about the ceremony below.

PREVIOUSLY, December 10: The Producers Guild of America is out with the first nominees for its 2025 PGA Awards. Documentaries are first on the docket, with six films vying in the Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures. See the list below, but the guild notes that all six films are in the process of being vetted for individual producer eligibility.

The 37th PGA Awards ceremony is set for Saturday, February 8, at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Nominations for Theatrical Motion Pictures, Animated Motion Pictures, Television Series/Specials and Streamed or Televised Motion Pictures will be revealed Friday, January 10. The Sports, Children’s and Short Form lists arrive Friday, December 13.

The Producers Guild Awards honors excellence in motion picture, TV and emerging-media productions as well as people shaping the producing profession. Chris Meledandri will receive the 2025 David O. Selznick Achievement Award, and Dana Walden is set for the PGA’s Milestone Award.

The PGA’s marquee film honor, the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures, long has been considered a strong prognosticator for the Best Picture Oscar, with 16 of the past 21 winners going on to triumph at the Academy Awards. Last awards season followed the trend as the PGA honored Oppenheimer, setting the gilded stage for the Christopher Nolan film’s Oscar triumph two weeks later.
