Princess Eugenie 'upset' Meghan upstaged her on wedding day

Princess Eugenie is believed to have been upset that Meghan Markle announced her pregnancy on her wedding day.

Back in October 2018, Princess Eugenie said ‘I do’ to Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle, however, their big moment was upstaged by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

It’s long been claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told friends and family about their exciting baby news at Eugenie’s big day, something which apparently didn’t sit well with the princess.

"It did not go down particularly well with Eugenie, who, a source said, told friends she felt the couple should have waited to share the news,"Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durarnr write in their biography on the Sussexes, called Finding Freedom.

It went on to say that Eugenie and Prince Harry had always been the "closest of friends" and used to go out partying together as they struggled with finding their place within the monarchy..

"Eugenie had always been more than just a cousin to Harry," the book continues.

"They were also the closest of friends. Out of all the Queen’s grand-children, Harry and Eugenie have one of the most natural connections. Like Harry, Eugenie is loyal, honest, and great fun. The two had many nights out together in London."

It claims that the pair had such a bond that Eugenie was one of the first people Harry told about his relationship with Meghan Markle.

"Eugenie, who'd long wanted to see her cousin settle down and be happy, told friends she loved Meghan and thought she was 'just the tonic' for Harry,” the book states.

"Harry had always confided in his cousin when it came to the women in his life," they added. "Not only did he trust her implicitly, but friends say that she gives great advice and has always been 'beyond wise' for her years."

Back in October, it was clear Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, wasn’t happy about the fact the Sussexes told everyone about their baby news on her daughter’s wedding day.

One the same day the palace announced that Prince Harry and Meghan were expecting their first child Fergie went on what some might consider a ‘petty’ Twitter spree to draw focus back to her daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public,” Kensington Palace said in a statement on Monday.

Eugenie’s mum Sarah Ferguson appeared a little miffed about the timing of the announcement, taking to Twitter to share multiple photos from her daughter’s big day.

Over and over she tweeted how “proud” she was of Eugenie, at the exact same time as Kensington Palace tweeted the pregnancy announcement.

Apparently Fergie isn’t the only one who was slightly miffed over the timing of the announcement.

Authors Andy Tillett and Dylan Howard, who wrote Royals At War: The Inside Story of Harry and Meghan’s Shocking Split With the House of Windsor, claim Prince Harry was shocked when Meghan decided to tell the rest of the royal family she was pregnant on Eugenie’s big day.

“Meghan put her foot in it when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child,” the book claims.

“This was a huge social gaffe, even if you were not a royal – stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah.”
