Prince William and Kate's emotional statement after tragic event
Prince William and wife Kate Middleton have expressed their 'shock' at the killing of British MP David Amess, sharing an emotional statement online.
The Conservative MP Sir David Amess died aged 69 after being stabbed multiple times during a meeting with constituents on Friday.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took to Twitter hours after his death, writing: "We are shocked and saddened by the murder of Sir David Amess, who dedicated 40 years of his life to serving his community.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues."
They also signed off with their initials, to indicate the message came direct from them rather than their online team.

Sir David was one of the longest-serving MPs in parliament, and had represented Southend West, Essex, since 1997.
His colleagues responded with horror to the news, describing him as one of "the kindest men in politics".
A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of Sir David’s murder and remains in police custody.
Their statement came ahead of the inaugural Earthshot Prize awards ceremony, which both William and Kate attended on Sunday.
The event saw five winners receive £1 million to scale their solutions to the environmental challenges facing the planet.
