'Unhappy for a long time': Harry 'sets the record straight' on Megxit in new biography

Just weeks after it was announced that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s journey through royal life was set to be detailed in a biography, it’s now been revealed that the Duke of Sussex is about to set the record straight on their royal exit.

According to a publishing insider, the 35-year-old prince is infuriated over the fact that his 38-year-old wife, Meghan Markle, has been blamed for their split from the family and is particularly irked by the term ‘Megxit’ which was coined amid all the drama.

"That word 'Megxit' in particular has always angered Prince Harry. It gives the impression that the decision to walk away from the Royal Family was Meghan's," the insider told The Sun.

"The reality is Harry drove that decision. The book will make that clear and explain why it had to happen. The truth is Harry had been unhappy for a long, long time."

Written by the Sussexs journalist friends, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the book, called Finding Freedom and the Making of A Modern Royal Family, promises to go ‘beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan’s life together’.

“Finding Freedom is an honest, up-close, and disarming portrait of a confident, influential, and forward-thinking couple who are unafraid to break with tradition, determined to create a new path away from the spotlight, and dedicated to building a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world,” the description on Amazon says.

Royal insiders are allegedly worried about what the Sussexes might have divulged in their interviews with the book authors, with some believing the biography could ‘savage’ monarchy, the Express UK reports.

The move echoes Princess Diana’s secret involvement in her own biography, Diana: Her True Story, where she spoke to author Andrew Morton.

She had also encouraged her friends to speak with him, prompting questions over whether members of Meghan's inner circle may also have spoken to Omid or Carolyn for the biography.

Last month, it was claimed that Prince Harry is missing parts of his former life, especially the camaraderie that came with being part of the military.

Prince Harry was forced to relinquish his roles as Captain General Royal Marines, Honorary Air Commandant, RAF Honington and Commodore-in-Chief, Small Ships and Diving, Royal Naval Command.

According to The Telegraph, the 35-year-old is longing for the camaraderie of his days in the Army and thinks it may have helped him cope with all the changes that are occurring in his life.

“He has been telling friends he still can't believe this has happened. He can't believe his life has been turned upside down,” his friend said.

“He was in a happy place when he was serving in the Army, then he met Meghan and since then life has been great. But I don't think he foresaw things turning out quite as they did.”

Harry’s friend went on to say that Harry doesn’t blame Meghan for wanting to move back to her hometown of LA, but he feels that he “might have been better protected if he was still in the Army”.
