Plunging Necklines Are Trending on the Golden Globes 2025 Red Carpet: Miley Cyrus, Cynthia Erivo, Zoe Saldana and More
Tonight brought the Golden Globes 2025, and one of the biggest style takeaways from the red carpet was plunging necklines. The trend, which was a breakout last year — notably at the CFDA Awards — swept the 82nd installment of the awards show. Celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Cynthia Erivo, Zoe Saldana, Zoë Kravitz, Quinta Brunson, Leighton Meester, and more all embraced plunging necklines.

Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus opted for a plunging neckline that gave way to cutouts, courtesy of Celine. She paired her black dress with a the brand’s Triomphe sunglasses that she wore on the red carpet. Beneath, she had a smokey eye and with winged eyeliner.
Cynthia Erivo
Erivo defied gravity in a plunging sculptural Louis Vuitton gown that featured a floating tier at her hips. Styled by Jason Bolden, she paired her dress with winged eyeliner, a lined lip and a gem-topped manicure in green and pink that took five hours to achieve.
Zoe Saldana
Saldana put forth a sparkling take on a plunging neckline in a sequined Saint Laurent gown that was accompanied by a cape. She paired the look, curated by stylist Petra Flannery, with jewels by Cartier.
Zoë Kravitz
Zoë Kravitz wore a plunging a gown that was designed custom by Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello. Styled by Andrew Mukamal, she paired it with diamond drop earrings and stacked rings from Jessica McCormack, which she represents as a brand ambassador.
Quinta Brunson
Quinta Brunson sparkled in a custom plunging gown by Roberto Cavalli creative director Fausto Puglisi.
Leighton Meester
Leighton Meester wore a plunging cowlneck gown from Versace’s spring 2024 collection. She paired it with silver pointed-toe heels and a diamond necklace and matching bracelet.
Sheryl Lee Ralph
Sheryl Lee Ralph wore an off-the-shoulder take on the plunging neckline trend, opting for a custom gown by St. John. Styled by Styled by Ivy Coco Maurice, she paired it with Gucci pointed-toe heels and jewels by Simon G. Jewelry.
Ashley Graham
Ashley Graham, who hosted WWD’s Eye on the Red Carpet pre-show livestream, also went custom, in a plunging gown by Bach Mai that was sculpted from black silk moiré. Styled by Emily Evans, Graham paired her look with black high heel sandals and jewels from Jared Jewelers.
Janelle James
Janelle James opted for a velvet twist on the plunging neckline trend in a custom Christian Siriano gown with matching opera gloves. She accessorized with Neil Lane Jewelry and a Jimmy Choo bag. Styled by Katya Giles Netter, she completed her look with Christian Louboutin heels.
Kelsey Merritt
Kelsey Merritt wore a plunging scoopneck gown that featured a tuxedo belt sash at the drop waist. She completed her look with silver strappy high-heel sandals and a diamond lariat necklace and diamond bracelet.
Keri Russell
Keri Russell wore a plunging cape dress from Stéphane Rolland and paired it with Aquazzura’s Uptown 105 Suede pumps.
Rachel Brosnahan
Rachel Brosnahan opted for a plunging Vivienne Westwood gown that featured a draped high-slit. She paired it with emerald and diamond jewels and metallic Jimmy Choo pumps.
Bri LaPaglia
Maria Lucia Hohan embraced the metallic trend and plunging neckline trend in a pleated strapless gown that she paired with lace-up pointed-toe heels, a diamond bracelet, and a metallic clutch.
