Perhaps the Ugliest Runway Look in 'RuPaul's Drag Race' History Sends Home Another Queen
RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 is starting to narrow. After no one was eliminated either week of the two-part premiere, Mama Ru has now eliminated two queens, leaving just a dozen in contention for the crown. This week, the remaining queens performed comedy music numbers based on iconic quotes from Drag Race past, with some delivering comedy gold and others struggling to stay afloat.
After the usual Werk Room dramas, the queens hit the runway in a "Quilted for Your Pleasure" runway with Julia Schlaepfer as the judge. With the Rate-a-Queen twist seemingly gone for the season, the judges named a bottom two, and a lip sync battle to "Buttons" by the Pussycat Dolls left one queen in trouble. For the second week in a row, however, the Badonka Dunk Tank lever was a dud and a second Season 17 queen was sent home.
Here's everything that happened in Episode 4 of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 including who went home:
Who was eliminated in the RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 Episode 4?
Joella
Our first hint that Joella might not be winner material was when she couldn't manage to spell her own name way back in the talent show. "J-O-E and don't forget the Ella" would imply that her name is actually Joeella, but I digress. Suffering from a massive dose of delusion, Joella seems to have thought she was untouchable. Meanwhile, she's sort of been mediocre at best all season. That being said, she is an incredible television character, and I will miss her.
This week her "We Write the Stories" homage to Mariah Paris Balenciaga was fine. But her terrible mattress look will almost certainly earn her the Golden Boot at the reunion. The fact that they made her stand on stage for so long while that costume continued to wilt was painful, but comedic gold from the producers as well. History was made.
Who won Episode 4 of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17?
Onya Nurve
I am unfortunately beginning to suss out that the talent on this season might be a wee bit lacking, especially after the powerhouses on Season 16. For the second week in a row (albeit in odd challenges), no one really popped off. Onya's "Put Your Lighters Up" was fine, but I've already forgotten most of it, and she basically won the runway for being the slightest bit interesting in a sea of snoozers. Hopefully, once we get to some classic challenges, the gang will start to lock in.
What is the Badonka Dunk Tank twist?
The new twist for Season 17 is the Badonka Dunk Tank, which allows the eliminated queen to pull one of ten levers attached to a dunk tank. Two of those levers will send Michelle Visage tumbling down into a dunk tank, which will save the drag queen. Eight of those levers will do nothing, and the queen will be sent packing. Hormona Lisa pulled one of the correct levers in Episode 2 and Lucky Starzzz and Joella each pulled one of the duds, which leaves the next eliminated queen with a 1/7 chance of remaining in the game.
