I’m So Obsessed With Beyoncé's Longtime Bodyguard, Julius, Briefly Breaking Character After She Won Album Of The Year At The Grammys

If you’re a Beyoncé fan like me, you’ll know one thing for sure: Wherever there’s a Bey, there’s a Julius not far away.

If you’re wondering if I’ve got her husband’s name mixed up, I’m not talking about Jay-Z. I’m talking about Julius. The one and only Julius. Julius de Boer. Beyoncé’s beloved personal bodyguard and also the man of my dreams.

You may not know Julius by name, but even if you’re just a casual fan of Bey’s, you’ll have definitely seen him standing, looking, observing, and protecting our Queen from harm's way.

No matter the event or location, whether it’s an awards show or a chill public appearance, Julius is there. In fact, he’s become such a huge part of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s life over the years that he’s developed his own mini fanbase (of which I am a proud member, if you hadn’t already guessed).

But, all jokes aside, Julius is there to do an important job, and time and time again, he’s proved himself to be a staunch professional — even if fans are literally screaming his name like he’s Justin Bieber in 2012.

Suffice to say, Julius never really shows emotion when he’s focused on the job — which is why fans were left feeling all kinds of emotions this week when new footage from Sunday’s Grammys ceremony showed him breaking his composure for a split second after Beyoncé won what many would consider to be the most important award of her career so far.

In newly released footage of the moment that Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter was announced as the Recording Academy’s Album of the Year, Julius immediately hops up from his perch behind Bey and Jay’s table as he prepares to follow her to the stage.

And, as he observes the elated audience members it seems he took a brief moment to — yep, you guessed it — smile.

OK, so it might not be the biggest smile you’ve ever seen in your life. But it’s a smile nonetheless, which, for our stony-faced Julius, is a pretty big deal — and fans on X certainly seem to agree.

And who can blame him for letting his joy show?!??! If anything, Julius’s sweet reaction further illustrates the importance of Bey finally winning the award she’s been repeatedly snubbed for throughout her career, IMHO.

Anyway, you can watch the video here. Keep up the good work, Julius — we see you!
