Praise is being bestowed on cast members like Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, and Jonathan Bailey, who plays Fiyero. Perhaps, though, the film's biggest breakout star is one of the biggest pop stars in the world.

That would be Ariana Grande, of course. She plays Glinda in the film, and she's specifically being praised online for her comedic chops in the movie.

Whether it's the wry depth she adds to the musical's opening number "No One Mourns The Wicked" or the full physical comedy she displays in "Popular," it's agreed upon that Ariana is a full-blown comedic actor.

But the truth is, many of us already knew that. After all, she got her start on Broadway and cut her teeth in not one but two Nickelodeon sitcoms: Victorious and Sam & Cat.

She also popped up in Jim Carrey's 2020 showtime series Kidding and got a few good jokes in as part of the cast of Adam McKay's 2021 film Don't Look Up.

And don't forget she's fresh off a successful turn hosting Saturday Night Live last month.
