“Outlander”'s Sam Heughan reveals gift he received from Jennifer Lopez's mom: 'Thank you so much'

Sam Heughan may not know Jenny from the Block, but he does know her mom.

The Outlander star, 44, revealed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he received a special present from Jennifer Lopez’s mom, Guadalupe “Lupe” Rodríguez, during a recent visit to The Tonight Show. 

“At Fallon, was anybody else on the show?” asked host Josh Horowitz. “Did you meet anyone there?” 

As it turns out, Heughan did meet someone pretty special. “Well, I did meet a very, very wonderful woman. J.Lo,” he explained as the 92nd Street Y crowd let out a large, collective gasp. “...Wasn’t there.”

Heughan then pulled out a cross necklace from a small container in his pocket as the crowd giggled, before revealing that he got the chance to meet her mother instead. “Lupe, J.Lo’s mum, who is in the audience, I believe," he said. "I hope she is.” 

Showing off the necklace, he continued, “Thank you so much, Lupe, if you’re here. If you’re not, she lied to me! Thank you, I got this wonderful present.”

Interestingly enough, Heughan revealed that he met Lopez’s mom before ever meeting the Atlas actress. “No, not yet,” he admitted, but quickly shielded his eyes from the stage lights in order to check and make sure the "Love Don't Cost a Thing" singer wasn't secretly in the audience.

Heughan made a guest appearance on The Tonight Show last week, wherein he discussed filming the eighth and final season of Outlander and attempted to coach host Jimmy Fallon on how to make a themed cocktail called the Sassenach after their previous, raw egg-filled attempt back in 2023. 

“It’s gonna go really well this time because there’s no egg white, no shaking,” Heughan promised, only to watch Fallon pour an incredible amount of Heughan’s Sassenach whiskey into their cups. “Oh no. Well. Okay. That’s going well.”
