Olivia Rodrigo Makes Bold Move After Her Song Is Used in Political Message
Olivia Rodrigo is being praised by fans over how she reacted to one of her hit songs being used in a political message following the 2024 election.
Earlier this week, the official TikTok account for Donald Trump's campaign shared a trio of images celebrating the results of the presidential race that ended on Nov. 5. Each slide contained part of the completed phrase: "And suddenly, the words 'I'm the President-Elect' came out of my mouth...And what's interesting about that...Is that's exactly what he is."
"WE DID IT AMERICA," the accompanying caption read. "The 47th President of the United States."

Wednesday's upload to the social media platform was initially backed by Rodrigo's 2021 hit "Deja Vu," until the 21-year-old pop star got involved and apparently removed the sound off of TikTok, leaving the post silent and with a disclaimer reading, "This sound isn't available."
According to several now-viral screenshots circulating other social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), the Grammy winner also sent a to-the-point message with a snarky comment that appears to have since been deleted.
"ew," the verified account for Rodrigo reportedly replied, "don’t use my sound ever again ty."
After Donald Trump’s TikTok profile used Olivia Rodrigo’s song “deja vu”, the singer reacted by taking down the track, stating:

"She is so mother for this," one fan said of her reaction.
"Olivia removing the deja vu sound from tiktok is iconic," a second suggested before a third added, "Oh Olivia, the Icon you are."
"Thank you miss Olivia," another joked.
Several others were confused by the whereabouts of the singer's comment, with a debate breaking out over whether it was real or deleted by the Trump campaign— prompting Rodrigo to remove her tune used as a backing track. It's also possible that Rodrigo deleted the reported comment, though neither camp has gone on the record to address the now-viral claims.
A rep for Rodrigo did not immediately return Parade's request for comment.
The former Disney Channel star, known for being outspoken, now joins what seems to be a still-growing list of artists that do not approve of Trump, 78, using their music–some taking even further measures to oppose the use of their content by Trump's campaign.
Celine Dion, Rihanna, Jack White, Steven Tyler, Neil Young, Guns N' Roses, Earth, Wind & Fire have all publicly condemned the use of their work at Trump rallies and in online posts like this most recent one. Tom Petty, Beyoncé, Linkin Park and Pharrell all sent the campaign cease-and-desists to stop playing their music at one point or another.
