Nothing can prepare you for Seal's deeply disturbing new Super Bowl commercial
He can keep the kiss from a rose to himself this time.
Super Bowl LIX is right around the corner — let the horrors commence.
Mountain Dew dropped a surreal, hallucinogenic new commercial today for their new Tropical Lime flavored Baja Blast featuring Grammy-winning singer Seal as a wet, honking seal, shimmying around on a pile of rocks. The extended version of their upcoming 30-second spot to air on Super Bowl Sunday depicts the "Kiss From a Rose" singer serenading pop star Becky G with a song called "Kiss From a Lime."
"The more I think of it, it's strange I'm a seal," he sings.
The ad begins with the "Mamiii" singer taking a sip from a can of Dew, which transports her into a vivid tropical landscape. As she zooms through glittering water on a speedboat, her squad pump the breaks when they hear the din of an ominous chant: "Baja, baja, baja."
It's a cluster of seals laid about a rocky outcrop, drumming up attention for a dramatic reveal. The camera zooms to capture their king in close-up: It's the Seal seal, shredding a brand-appropriate version of his 1994 hit "Kiss From a Rose."
"My flippers can't hold Mountain Dew / it slips right on through, what a shame," he sings, his voice soulful and resonant.
The whole scene — seals and speedboaters alike — freeze in their tracks when the fins of two orcas begin to slice through the water toward Seal. But the power of his legendary voice commands their respect. "Dew remains, my power, my pleasure, my flame!" he erupts, and so does a volcano in the background, as the orcas leap out of the water and do half-turns.
Becky G puts into words what we're all thinking: "Well, this is the weirdest thing I've ever seen."

The Pepsi product is known for its outlandish Super Bowl commercials. Last year, they tapped Aubrey Plaza to "have a blast" while being abducted by aliens, tempting an unsuspecting child It-style with a Baja Blast held out from a storm drain, and riding a flying dragon with Nick Offerman.
In 2021, John Cena and a dog Frankensteined together with watermelon slices teamed up to promote the brand's new watermelon flavor, and the year before that, Bryan Cranston and Tracee Ellis Ross recreated The Shining.
Seal will join Drew Barrymore on Friday's episode of her eponymous talk show to discuss the ad, which is currently going viral.
"It's inspiring because this song has been around for 35 years, 40 years now," he says. "It's incredible and the fact that working with these guys doing this commercial, the fact that I get to kind of have fun with it at last... Any chance I get to poke fun at myself and make my kids laugh and do something funny like this commercial, I'll jump at it."

Seal and Becky G join the panoply of stars scheduled to appear in coveted commercial spots during Sunday's Super Bowl telecast. Ben Affleck, his brother Casey Affleck, and Jeremy Strong teamed up for a Dunkin' Donuts ad this week, and last week, David Beckham met his long-lost brother Dave (Matt Damon) for Stella Artois.
Super Bowl LIX will air Sunday, Feb. 9, on Fox, Tubi, and the Fox Sports app at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
