Norma Kamali Fall 2025: Channeling New Energies

“Masculine energy is everywhere,” Norma Kamali declared during a showroom appointment on Wednesday. The designer explained her latest mindset after being overwhelmed by “men, men, men,” everywhere — from social media to podcast hosts to the government’s latest appointments.

“But truth be told, I think women in your age group have so much masculine energy, this “F–k you. I can do this without you, energy.” I thought was a real statement,” she said.

Inspired by the idea of how dressing with this state of mind is a tough, cool and powerful fashion statement for women to own, she designed her own versions — mannish ideas lensed by a woman, for her global woman, across a strong assortment of attire that fit the mood with a feminine bent.

Black vegan leather head-to-toe layers, including a variety of stellar outerwear, was a big part of this cool push-pull. The material came in a variety of appealing silhouettes, including a maxiskirt with matching hoodie or turtleneck catsuit, double-pleat trousers, swing coats, and strong bombers, like a cropped version piled over slick spat leggings and topped off with a feather-adorned Stetson fedora.

Kamali explained the hats were a nod to Bob Dylan — she had recently watched “A Complete Unknown” and Scorsese’s “Rolling Thunder,” and liked the idea of how they added a bit of personality to the looks.

The second half of her collection homed in on nature via bark and elm brown hues or box plaid and three alternative camouflage prints (tree branch, leaf, autumnal floral). Like the vegan leather layers, her prints and natural hues could be seen across every category, spanning from dresses and blouses with built-in bodysuits to catsuits to skirts and coats. True to her DNA, the looks were unfussy, layerable and had just the right amount of personality to them.

While working on fall, specifically its latter prints, the devastating Los Angeles fires occurred.

“I had been thinking about the majesty of a forest: the silence, the spirituality of it, and how we have to really respect it, and then the fires happened,” Kamali said. “So, this is a tribute to taking care of our forests and taking care of things that really have spirituality, that really have incredible power.”
