Noah Wyle Returns to the Emergency Room in 'The Pitt'

ER's Noah Wyle is back in scrubs for a new medical drama.

The actor, who played Dr. John Carter in the NBC TV series, is beginning a new hospital shift as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in the Max Original series The Pitt. The drama, from John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television, was created by NCIS: Los Angeles and ER's R. Scott Gemmill.

"We are grateful to Warner Bros. Television and Max for giving us this opportunity to return to the world of urban medicine," Gemmill, Wyle and John Wells said in a joint statement when it was announced that the show had been given a straight-to-series order. "The myriad of challenges facing the doctors, nurses, technicians, patients, and their families who work in the trenches of modern medicine have become only more pronounced in the decade and a half since we last visited their stories."

They added, "We’re thrilled to be able to return to this world with the support of our partners and are looking forward to pushing the boundaries of dramatic realism and medical accuracy in following the lives of these heroic men and women."
