Kate Middleton showed off her musical talents during a school visit to a children's hospice in South London on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Duchess of Cambridge, who is seven-months pregnant with her second child, attended the Bethlem and Maudsley Hospital School.

The reception, which marks Kate's first Royal engagement since returning home from holiday in Mustique with husband William and Prince George, was a private affair to discuss the Royal Foundation's support for hospices offering palliative care for children.

Head teacher Dr. John Ivens opened up about the expectant Royal's visit, revealing her musical talents during a ukulele session with the kids.

"One of the boys managed to teach the Duchess a couple of chords on the ukulele. She kept up with them," he explained.

"There’s a career there," he jokingly added.

The teacher went on to discuss what a good listener the mum of 17-month-old Prince George was.

"The Duchess is very good at listening to what people are saying to her, especially children, and responding in a thoughtful way. Clearly it was very important for her to understand how young people get to a situation that they need to be an in-patient at such a young age," he said.

"It was clear that her intention in coming was to find out more about this area. She talked a little bit about that with the children and about what George likes. It was lovely."

Kate has been a long time supporter of children's initiatives and is patron of East Anglia Children's Hospices (EACH).
