Who's ready to go back to the farm? Netflix seems to be, as the network is doing something Little House on the Prairie fans never saw coming.

Back in 1974, viewers were introduced to the Ingalls family on the hit historical drama. Based on The Little House book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the show followed the Ingalls clan while they lived on a small farm in Minnesota. With Melissa Gilbert portraying Laura and Michael Landon playing her dad Charles "Pa" Ingalls, folks adored the coming-of-age series based on real-life events.

Little House on the Prairie eventually ended after nine seasons in 1983, and three post-TV movies were made showcasing Laura and her siblings growing up and starting lives of their own. What's more, fans continue to resonate with the story — and Netflix is looking to capitalize on that. Thanks to a surprise announcement from Deadline on January 29, it looks like Little House on the Prairie is the latest TV show to get a series reboot.

Additionally, Trip Friendly — whose dad Ed bought the TV and movie rights for Laura's novels that eventually became the show in 1974 — is set to be a co-producer on the new project.

"It has been a long-held dream of mine to carry on my father’s legacy and adapt Wilder’s classic American stories for a 21st century audience in a way that brings together fans of both the books and the original television series," he said in an official statement. “I am thrilled by our talented creative team... who are bringing these beloved stories about family, community, and survival to longtime fans and new generations."

When folks learned Netflix would be bringing Little House on the Prairie back to life, many were excited to see what could come from this.

"Get out!!! Best news today!! 😮👏😍," one person wrote on Instagram. "OMG yes!!!!!!!" another exclaimed. "Yes! Wholesome, nostalgic & perfect 💘," a different fan added.

On the other hand, there were some fans who didn't think rebooting Little House on the Prairie was the best idea.

"Noooooo it was perfect as is," one person bemoaned. "Don't do it!" another begged. "Oh god please don’t remake this unless you’re going to have all the cast members from the old one on it … 😂," a different follower remarked.
