Natalie Bassingthwaighte hits back at trolls after sharing photo with new partner

"We all deserve respect and love because we are all human."

Natalie Bassingthwaighte has hit back at trolls after seeing negative and homophobic comments on her recent post after revealing her new partner Pip Loth, who uses they/them pronouns.

News broke earlier this year that Natalie and her husband Cameron McGlinchey had ended their 12-year marriage, with the singer telling Stellar magazine and their Something To Talk About podcast that she had found love with someone else.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Nat thanked her followers for their "love and support", but added that "on the flip side, with love comes hate", something that she doesn't "understand".

Earlier this week, Pip shared a post of themselves and Nat, with many people leaving messages of support, but sadly, there were also many hurtful comments.

"I don’t understand how people have time to go on someone’s page and comment so viciously and horrifically, and intentionally make people feel awful. It’s not accepted on my page, and I won’t have it," Nat said, adding she was shocked to see negative comments about her children, and her ex-husband, who she is very close with still.

"My team will be looking at the comments and blocking anyone who says anything negative towards anyone I love: That includes my family, that includes Cam, that includes my kids and that includes my girlfriend. We all deserve respect and love because we are all human," she added.

She also slammed the paparazzi who have been following her around and spreading untrue stories about herself and her friends, saying, "I want it to stop."

"Hate just brings more hate, and I don't have any hate in my life," she said. "I'm happy, I'm safe and well, and I wish you nothing but the same."

Pip shared a sweet message to Nat, "Appreciation post for the most incredible woman who is not only giving me strength, support, love and immense joy, but is teaching me to understand and accept that I am deserving of these things and have them within myself too.

"She’s teaching me to breathe deeply, to trust and to be my truest self. I am so incredibly lucky and overwhelmingly grateful for you."

Natalie first announced her new relationship on the Something To Talk About podcast earlier this month, saying: “I am in a beautiful relationship with a woman who makes my heart smile and makes me really happy.”

She went on to say that when her marriage breakdown was made public this year, she called Cameron in “hysterics” because she was terrified she might be outed.

“He said, ‘It’s okay. This is your truth and you now have to sit in it and stand in it and own it’,” she recalled.

“So to have that support from him has been nothing short of beautiful, and I'm very grateful for it. Now I can speak from my own mouth, on my own truth, and that feels rewarding. I'm okay. Everything is okay, and everyone is okay. We’re in a good space. It feels liberating.”
