Natalie Bassingthwaighte announces she's dating a woman post-split

The singer says her new relationship makes her 'really happy'.

Three months after reports emerged that she had split from her husband Cameron McGlinchey after 13 years of marriage, Natalie Bassingthwaighte has revealed she is now in a relationship with a woman.

The popular singer and Neighbours actress, 48, spoke openly about her love life on the Something To Talk About podcast on Saturday.

“I am in a beautiful relationship with a woman who makes my heart smile and makes me really happy,” she announced while keeping her partner’s identity private.

Natalie went on to say that when her marriage breakdown was made public this year, she called Cameron in “hysterics” because she was terrified she might be outed.

“He said, ‘It’s okay. This is your truth and you now have to sit in it and stand in it and own it’,” she recalled.

“So to have that support from him has been nothing short of beautiful, and I'm very grateful for it. Now I can speak from my own mouth, on my own truth, and that feels rewarding. I'm okay. Everything is okay, and everyone is okay. We’re in a good space. It feels liberating.”

It was first reported in August that Natalie and her husband Cameron had “quietly ended their marriage” and split in late 2022.

The couple, who met while working together in the band Rogue Traders and tied the knot in 2011, share a daughter, Harper, 13, and a son, Hendrix, 10.

'Life isn't perfect'

Elsewhere in the interview, Natalie shared that she and Cameron are “co-parenting beautifully” and still currently live together in Byron Bay.

“We’ve been on family holidays together; at this point, we’re still living in the same house together,” she detailed. “It’s a little bit crazy considering everything, but we’re doing it.

“If I can continue to show our kids that life isn’t perfect, it will throw some things at you but, ultimately, if you stand in integrity and with love, respect and kindness for everyone around you - including yourself - then it will radiate.”
