Mystery Drone Sightings Investigated in New Podcast Series ‘Obscurum,’ Hosted by Gabe Lenners (EXCLUSIVE)

A new investigative podcast series about mystery drone sightings, “Obscurum: Invasion of the Drones,” is set to launch Feb. 11, Variety can exclusively report.

The series, produced in partnership with Imagine Entertainment, iHeartMedia and Lenners Entertainment, comes on the heels of the public’s recent fascination with mysterious drone sightings over New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Episodes will explore similarly scrutinized sightings over Nebraska and Colorado in late 2019.

“Obscurum” is hosted by Gabe Lenners and executive produced by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Kara Welker, Nathan Kloke and Lenners.

“The drone mystery is one of the most fascinating stories I’ve ever covered. What started as a local enigma in the Midwest has grown into a nationwide phenomenon, with new sightings emerging every day,” Lenners said in a statement. “Through ‘Obscurum,’ I’ve had the privilege of speaking to eyewitnesses, officials, and experts, uncovering connections that raise more questions than answers. This podcast is about more than just unidentified aircraft — it’s about how we confront the unknown and seek the truth.”

Lenners is a television and radio host, journalist, podcaster and producer. He is best known for the multi-platform interview series, “Radio Disney Country Close Up.” “Obscurum” is the first project under his production company, Lenners Entertainment.

“When we first heard Gabe Lenners’ story about the unexplained drones over the Midwest, we were immediately intrigued. His reporting was meticulous, and his access to sources was unparalleled,” Audio at Imagine Entertainment’s Welker said. “But as we began producing the show, the phenomenon expanded — sightings spread into New Jersey, and the mystery deepened. That’s when we knew we had to get this show in front of audiences and Gabe back into the field to continue uncovering the truth. ‘Obscurum’ is suspenseful, real and a must-listen for anyone captivated by the unknown.”

New episodes will launch every Tuesday following the podcast’s Feb. 11 premiere.
