Mum's Woolworths 'poop' cake hack to celebrate son being toilet trained

Are poop cakes the latest trend in home baking? It would seem so after mum of two Tamara posted about hers on a Facebook Group.

Tamara shared her latest take on the Woolworths mud cake hack online, sharing her creation with members of the Woolies/Coles Mudcake Hacks group and was inundated with comments.

"I had promised to make my son a poop cake when he mastered pooping on the toilet! Yipppeee so proud of him. Make with 1x Woolworths white chocolate mud cake and 1x caramel mud cake," she wrote in her post.

And fellow mums loved the result.

"Omg the pre iced poop looks so real. I 100% would have served that to my child LMAO," one person commented.

"Well, I was on the picture before any icing and my two year old looked over and said 'eew poop'! So I think you've done well even without decorating," another wrote.

Tamara came up with the idea for the delicious incentive for her four year old Jack after toilet training had stagnated.

"It feels like we have been toilet training our son Jack for far too long," Tamara tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

"Whilst he mastered number 1s just fine, number 2s seemed like it would never happen. Offering goals like treats of chocolate or even Lightning McQueen cars (his favourite) didn't make any difference. There was no accidents just stubbornness," she explains.

"Nappies are expensive and whilst we didn't want to push too hard to make him use the toilet we encouraged at every moment. It just seemed he would do it when he was ready.

"One of the latest bribes I just came up with was a suggestion of making a huge cake of poop if he finally did the deed," she said.

Jack seemed to like that idea, so Tamara started searching online for inspiration so that she could be ready if it finally happened. She found the perfect instructional video on YouTube (below).

"He must have thought about this cake for a week or so and often talked about it. Then the moment came and Jack decided himself it was time," Tamara told us.

"But he was sure to remind us of some of the many bribes we offered and he was entitled to before he went to the toilet – daddy was to take him to the toy shop and I started to prepare to create the cake!!

"It was a very exciting moment."

And it wasn't only Jack who was looking forward to the much-promised cake. His sister Katie, seven, was also looking forward to the unusual treat as well as watching her mum make it.

"The first thing Jack said is 'I get my poop cake now!'."

To save time, Tamara picked up two Woolworths mud cakes, then made a milk chocolate ganache.

"Whilst it took a few hours to make that night, with a wine or two, the morning cake reveal was the best," Tamara recalled. "Jack giggled so much and Katie said it 'looked amazing and just like poop!' She also told her brother how proud she was of him.

"The cake actually tasted pretty delicious. Maybe I should have suggested it much earlier," she added.
