Missed Yellowstone’s 5B Premiere? Streaming It Might Be Tougher Than You’d Think

Paramount Network’s Yellowstone made its long-awaited return Sunday, but if you’re looking to watch or stream the Season 5B premiere the day after, you’re going to need a cable login.

Yellowstone is not available on-demand with any Paramount+ plan, nor will the newest episodes be immediately streamable on Peacock, where the rest of the series lives. And while the neo-Western’s season premiere did air on CBS Sunday, the remainder of the season will only air on the Paramount Network. So in order to stream full episodes, you’ll need to sign in with your TV provider login to access them.

YouTube TV, Philo and Fubo subscribers may also stream the episode on-demand. (Philo, like YouTube TV, will air Yellowstone 5B episodes live Sundays at 8/7c. The new episodes will then be on-demand for the entirety of the season starting the next morning.)

The premiere’s logline reads: “After ‘an event’ rattles the state of Montana, nothing will ever be the same.” The episode explains the fate of John Dutton following Kevin Costner’s high-profile exit from the series — and you can read all of the spoilery details in our recap here.

Although John’s absence is felt throughout Season 5, Episode 9, director Christina Voros said “his presence is an essential component to the story. John Dutton is still central.”

Voros also weighed in on the ending that the series’ co-creators crafted for John. When she first read the script, “it made me feel really lucky to get to direct it. Taylor [Sheridan] always has a sense of where something is going to end, and the joy is watching him find how we get there. So all I can say is… I felt tremendously grateful to be a part of telling this chapter in the story.”
