Lambert gushed to Clarkson about being "obsessed" with Roan's "authentic" music ever since her brother introduced her to the singer's catalog

Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert's voices were meant to harmonize with each other!

During an appearance on the Sept. 24 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the country star, 40, and the "Miss Independent" singer, 42, raved about their love of Chappell Roan's music before performing a duet cover of her hit song, "Good Luck, Babe!"

The moment came about after Clarkson asked Lambert what artists she's currently listening to, and the "Kerosene" musician named both Lainey Wilson and Roan, 26.

"My brother [Luke] and his husband [Marc] were like, ‘You have to hear this,’ and they turned me onto her music, and I was obsessed," said Lambert of the "Red Wine Supernova" performer.

"I didn’t get to meet her at the VMAs. I wanted to, everything was chaotic, but I was like, ‘Dang it.’ I just wanna tell her, like, she’s so brave," she added. "I love anything authentic. It’s so cool."

Before launching into the duet, accompanied by an acoustic guitarist, Clarkson reiterated her admiration for Roan and said, "I hope she thinks we're cool too. We love you!"

The pair then sang "Good Luck, Babe!" and harmonized their way through the midtempo pop song, with Clarkson belting out the high notes.

"You can kiss a hundred boys in bars / Shoot another shot, try to stop the feeling," they sang on the track's chorus. "You can say it's just the way you are / Make a new excuse, another stupid reason / Good luck, babe , well, good luck, babe / You'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling."

Released in April, the song marked Roan's first new music following her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, last year.

This week, "Good Luck, Babe!" reached a new peak of No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Lambert, whose new album Postcards from Texas is out now, recently spoke to PEOPLE about recording her new song "Dammit Randy," cowritten by her husband, Brendan McLoughlin.

The pair started the song during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, when Lambert was working with her frequent collaborator Jon Randall, who picked up a guitar during a writing session where McLoughlin, 32, was present — and "kept popping in."

"I was like, 'All right. If you're going to do this, you got to turn that football game off, and we're going to do it.' He did, and he's done a couple of other co-writes with me," she recalled.

Lambert added, "When you're writing about something that you've been talking about and that you've been going through in your life, no one better to have insight on that than your partner at home. They're living it with you. So, it was the perfect song for him to collaborate on."
