Kate Middleton Breaks With Tradition During Latest Royal Engagement
Kate Middleton is slowly but surely returning to her responsibilities as a working royal and, apparently, she's embracing change along the way.
Over the weekend, the Prince and Princess of Wales joined King Charles III for the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance. The event—which was held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, on Saturday, Nov. 9—preceded Remembrance Sunday, which is held every year on the second Sunday in November as the United Kingdom commemorates the service members who fought for their country.

This year's annual engagement, however, featured a subtle break with tradition on behalf of the 42-year-old princess.
According to photos obtained by Hello!, a wreath set up by the royal couple only included Prince William's signature, whereas, in previous years, it had been signed by both parties.
"In memory of all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice," the message on the card signed by William read. "We will remember them."

Reasons for why Kate didn't sign this year's wreath are still widely speculated, though, as the magazine pointed out, the mum-of-three's attendance at this year's event wasn't publicly confirmed until the day before, so she just may not have had time to co-sign the message before it was sent off to be displayed with the wreath.
Saturday's appearance marks the latest in Kate's slow return to her royal duties since battling cancer. Since she was diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer earlier this year, the Princess of Wales has lived a rather private life as she prioritized her health and time with family.
Shortly after announcing she had wrapped up chemotherapy and treatment, declaring her cancer in remission, Kate made a surprise appearance at the Sadler's Wells Theatre in London at the end of September, where she enjoyed an elaborate performance by ballet dancers she called "wonderfully powerful, moving and inspiring." Days before that, she was seen attending a church service in Scotland.
