Michael Bolton Shares Cancer Update, Cancels July Concert to Heal from Surgery 1 Year After Brain Tumor Announcement

The singer informed fans on Friday, Feb. 7 that he is canceling his July 5 concert at the O2 Arena in London, and that all tickets will be automatically refunded.
“You all know how much I was looking forward to this show but I am continuing to heal from surgery,” the singer, who will turn 72 on Wednesday, Feb. 26, shared on Instagram Stories.
“Thank you for all your love and positive energy over this past year. I am so grateful to have the most supportive fans in the world,” he wrote.
Bolton’s statement comes just one year after he announced that he had a brain tumor and required surgery.

"Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery. Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success," the singer wrote in the Jan. 5, 2024 Facebook post. "I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family."
At the time, the Grammy winner said he was taking a "temporary break" from touring. "It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.”

Then on Tuesday, Oct. 22, he canceled a string of concerts due to his health, saying that he was "just not quite 100% yet" and still on a "road to recovery."
"It is challenging and often times frustrating because I just want to be out there performing for you but I need a little more time to build back my full strength and stamina,” he wrote on Facebook. “My progress is good and I have been able to get a little work done on a couple exciting projects that you’ll be hearing about very soon.”

The "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" singer provided a small update at the end of the year, and posted a festive picture with his loved ones on Facebook on Wednesday, Dec. 25.
"Sending warm wishes for a holiday season filled with peace, love, and joy," he captioned the post. "May the New Year bring health, happiness, and countless moments to cherish." Adding, "Here's to fresh starts and beautiful moments in 2024!"
