Married at First Sight’s golden couple, Cam Merchant and Jules Robinson, have taken the plunge and tied the knot again.

We were all watching when Cam got down on one knee and proposed at the end of last season, and soon afterwards, we saw Jules make a proposition of her own, asking co-stars Heidi Latcham and Melissa Lucarelli if they’d be her bridesmaids.

But one year on, only one of those ladies ended up making it to the big day.

Bridesmaid scorned

Unfortunately, Mel was a no-show at the couple’s Sydney wedding and took to Instagram early on Monday morning to explain why.

“Yes the rumours are true,” she said, “Yes Jules dumped me as a bridesmaid. No I wasn’t at the wedding event of the year”.

Adding a little more context in a video on her Instagram stories, Mel explained that she still doesn’t know why she was dropped from the bridal party, saying Jules, “kept changing her reasons and none of it made sense.”

“It just came out of the blue and yeah, I didn’t see it coming at all,” she continued, “Of course, you’re allowed to change your mind about who you want as a bridesmaid but I just feel like the way it was done was really cold and rather hurtful, especially doing it so close to the actual wedding day.”

She added that the very public way in which Jules first asked her to be a bridesmaid, coupled with the fact that the wedding will be aired on A Current Affair on Tuesday, made the dumping all the more ‘embarrassing’ and ‘hurtful’.

However, she still wishes the couple all the best.

Comforting words

Mel’s fans were quick to comfort her on Instagram, saying, “Can’t have a better looking bridesmaid than the bride lol,” and “Ah well Mel that is her loss. You do you”.

Former co-star Ning Surasiang also commented, saying, “I never get invited to heaps of things babe, no sweat over here.”

“You can come to my wedding? Oh wait a minute... I need a man, all the monies and the tv crew whoops I’m screwed,” she added, in reference to the couple’s TV deal with ACA.

MAFS stars on the guest list

The other half of Jules’ MAFS bridal party, Heidi, did attend, and was dressed in a white bridesmaid gown.

White has continued to be a popular colour for bridal parties since Pippa Middleton wore it to Kate and Wills’ royal wedding back in 2011. Heidi’s gown was a strapless, column style dress, similar ones are currently on offer by Flynn Skye, ASOS, and Shona Joy for between $150 and $280 each.

Heidi was photographed leaving Sydney restaurant Alpha, where the wedding reception was held, on Sunday night, and we’ll no doubt get more of a glimpse when the TV special airs on Tuesday.

Fellow co-star Nic Jovanovic, who was paired with the now pregnant Cyrell Paule on the show, was also among the guests and had a date on his arm.

Wedding details

Jules and Cam walked down the aisle for a second time on Sunday, this time, in a legally binding ceremony in Sydney.

The bride is said to have worn a Cinderella-style gown to marry her Prince Charming, before changing into a more figure-hugging, patterned design, for their reception at Alpha restaurant in the CBD.

ACA cameras were invited in so fans of the couple will be able to see all the details on Nine at 7pm Tuesday.
