Meghan Markle and Prince Harry get in some parenting practice

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry braved the cold to greet well-wishers in Bristol, England for their latest public appearance.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived to tour Bristol Old Vic a little later than scheduled, due to their train being delayed, but took time to chat to locals during a walkabout.

The couple seemed more than happy to get in some parenting practice as they met children from Abbeywood pre-school.

“They are very good at waving flags,” Meghan said of the three and four-year-olds.

Father-to-be Harry joked to the nursery staff: “How do you keep them all under control?” before adding to the youngsters: “You know you guys can run anywhere you like?”

He then asked: “Are you nice and warm in that?” as he admired one of the children’s snowsuits and seemed amused that some of them seemed more excited by their snack of digestive biscuits than meeting royalty.

The Duchess revealed during a trip to Birkenhead last month that their first child is due at the end of April or beginning of May.

Meghan and Harry thanked well-wishers for waiting out in the snow for them before heading inside the recently renovated Old Vic.

They seemed quite taken with three-year-old Ocean, who likes to be known by the name of Ballerina.

The Duke and Duchess then dropped in on Future Quest workshop attended by schoolchildren, which uses theatre as a tool to develop speaking and listening skills, to increase self-confidence, collaboration and creativity.

They also watched a performance by Young Company from their production Hercules.

Their next stop was Empire Fighting Chance, a charity which aims to fight the impact of deprivation on young people’s lives through boxing. The couple spoke to young people and children about the positive impact its having on young people in Bristol.

In 2017, Prince Harry revealed that he likes to box to alleviate stress and that it had helped him deal with his frustration and anger following the death of his mother Princess Diana.

Pregnant Meghan wrapped up for today’s engagements in a black William Vintage coat and a $2,500 belted printed silk-chiffon midi dress by Oscar de la Renta and $956 olive green Sarah Flint ‘Marina’ boots.

She also carried her matching Ralph Lauren clutch bag, first spotted at Prince Louis’ christening last year.

It’s been a busy week for the pair after Harry attended a Commonwealth Youth Round Table on Wednesday.

While Meghan visited two of her patronages passed to her by the Queen this week – the National Theatre and the Association of Commonwealth Universities, which took place at City, University of London.
