Meet Zac Hanson's 5 Kids! All About Shepherd, Junia, Abraham, Lucille and Quincy

Having kids changed Zac Hanson's perspective on his rocker career.

The "MMMBop" singer married his wife Kate Hanson in 2006 and two years later, they welcomed their first child, Shepherd. In 2010, Zac and Kate had Junia and three years later, Abraham joined the family. Lucille was born in 2016 and the family's youngest, Quincy, arrived in 2021.

Despite the popularity of Zac's band Hanson, which he formed with his brothers in 1992, the drummer told PEOPLE that his children think of him as Dad first.

"My kids, they don't think of our career at all," he said in 2022. "Some of my kids love music, and today, one of my daughters is singing at a little local festival, but she doesn't care at all that her dad sings. She's just like, 'I want to sing, so I'm going to go sing.' "

Zac told Entertainment Tonight in 2021 that having kids changed how he viewed being a musician. "It becomes more important that idea of, what's the legacy you're leaving?" he said. "As you know, you're leaving that to your kids, and you're talking to your kids through the art you make."

Here’s everything to know about Zac Hanson’s kids: Shepherd, Junia, Abraham, Lucille and Quincy.

John Ira Shepherd, 16

Zac and Kate welcomed John Ira Shepherd, who goes by Shepherd, in May 2008.

“I am so overjoyed," the Grammy-nominated artist told PEOPLE at the time. "There is not an audience or concert that could ever stand up to the feeling of meeting your baby for the first time.”

Kate added, “Shepherd is the most wonderful gift we could ever receive. We’re already enjoying every second of this great adventure.”

Shepherd is a big gaming fan, a hobby he shares with his dad and occasionally his whole family. In January 2022, Zac shared a selfie on Instagram of him and his eldest picking up new Nintendo Switches. The siblings have also all played Pokémon Go together with their dad.

The drummer shared a snap of the family sitting on the couch together enjoying a gaming session in February 2022. “The family that plays together… stays REALLY close together!” he captioned the photo.

And when he’s not gaming, Zac has shared that Shepherd also plays baseball.

Junia Rosa Ruth, 13

Zac and Kate added Junia Rosa Ruth to the family in December 2010.

“In just the short time she’s been here, she’s enriched our family and our lives beyond measure," the musician told PEOPLE when announcing her birth. "We’re looking forward to celebrating the season with our family and introducing her to everyone.”

Junia loves playing Legos with her dad. Zac shared a video on Instagram of his elder daughter and her siblings putting together a Mario and Luigi-themed set in August 2021.

It seems the family likes to play outside together, too. Zac shared a photo on Instagram of Junia posing with her sister Lucille on ATVs in April 2022. “Such a treat to spend a little time with my lady’s going fast, having fun,” he captioned the photo.

For Junia’s 10th birthday, in December 2020, the dad-of-five shared a photo on Instagram of himself posing with his elder daughter in front of her cake. “That face you make when your dad is more excited about cinnamon roll birthday cake than you are! Happy 10th birthday Junia 🥳 Now let’s eat!!!!” he captioned the post.

George Abraham Walker, 10

Zac and Kate welcomed George Abraham Walker, who goes by Abraham, in October 2013.

When Zac announced his son's birth, he told PEOPLE, “We are very excited to share the addition of George Abraham Walker Hanson to our growing family. Abraham is healthy and we are happily sharing a little down time together as a family.”

Like his older brother Shepherd, Abraham is also a gamer and often plays with his dad. The "Penny & Me" singer shared a video on Instagram of himself and Abraham playing with toy cars in October 2021.

“This is what play sounds like. Funny how we both want the same thing for our birthdays even though he’s turning 8, and me 36,” he captioned the post.

And like his older brother Shepherd, Abraham also likes baseball.

Mary Lucille Diana, 8

Zac and Kate welcomed Mary Lucille Diana, who goes by Lucille, in August 2016.

The Grammy nominee opened up to PEOPLE about the excitement of her birth. “We are overjoyed to share the arrival of Mary Lucille Diana Hanson," Zac said. "It is such an inspiration to meet her and to imagine all of the adventures we will take together as a family of six.”

The songwriter also explained the meaning behind his younger daughter's name. “Lucy," a song from the band’s breakout album Middle of Nowhere, was the only track Zac was featured on as a lead vocalist, and “Diana” is the name of Zac's mother.

In August 2021, Zac shared a photo on Instagram from Lucille’s 5th birthday, where she rocked a shirt that said “Everybody dance now," and celebrated with a donut cake. “You won’t live forever, and this won’t last very long. It’s good to be 5, make sure to enjoy the little things while they last,” he captioned the photo.

Apparently, Lucille also thinks highly of her dad — enough for him to be worthy of being the president in her eyes. Zac shared a photo on Instagram in November 2020 of a fake voting ballot filled out by Lucille, where she voted for “My Daddy."

“It’s official I got at least one vote this election!!! 🥳🤪,” he captioned the photo.

Quincy Joseph Thoreau, 3

Zac and Kate welcomed their son Quincy Joseph Thoreau in March 2021.

The bandmember shared the news on Instagram, with a photo of Kate cradling Quincy, as well as a funny photo of himself pretending to scream. Zac captioned the post, "Marveling at the superpower women are uniquely gifted ... as well as freaking out over the fact that I am now responsible to help raise another person."

The youngest of the five kids, Quincy likes to hang out with his whole family. Zac shared a photo on Instagram of Quincy with his siblings "soaking up the magic" during a trip to Walt Disney World in October 2022.

Quincy even appears to be taking up his father’s love of drumming. The "Save Me" singer shared a photo on Instagram in 2022 of his youngest playing on a small drum set. “You know what they say about apples and trees ... who knew it was true!!!” he captioned the photo.

Zac also shared a selfie in March 2023 of himself in the car with Quincy asleep in the backseat. “Is there any better feeling then when your crazy kids just go to sleep,” he captioned the photo.
