Humorous and heartwarming, Mom & Dad’s Nipple Factory shines a light on the story of Johnson’s conservative parents. When mother Randi is diagnosed with breast cancer, her introverted husband Brian, a traditional family man, transforms their Midwest modest home into a secret prosthetic nipple laboratory, an act of love that blossoms into a truly unexpected business, kept hidden from their church, small-town community and five unsuspecting children.
Opening the Milwaukee Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award, the film being distributed by Kino Lorber will roll out with an Oscar-qualifying run at Laemmle’s Town Center 5 in Encino, CA beginning September 6, followed by a release on all VOD platforms on September 10. Two-time Independent Spirit Award nominee Noah Lang (The Climb) and Academy Award nominee Jason Cohen (Facing Fear) produced alongside Jonathan Wegener, Anthony Deptula, Steve Garfield and Tumblr founder David Karp. Other EPs on the project include Michael Cruz and Jason Y. Lee for Jubilee Media.
In a statement to Deadline about her involvement, Bialik explained that “what began as supreme curiosity about what on earth a Nipple Factory was, has turned into a deep commitment to share this story with as many people as possible. Mom & Dad’s Nipple Factory is an examination of a family’s coping with breast cancer told through the lens of an enduring romantic endeavor, a feat of engineering ingenuity, faith challenged, an unlikely factory which became a thriving business, and a family made whole through their collective journey.”
Stated Johnson, “It’s an absolute dream to welcome Mayim Bialik as an executive producer on Mom & Dad’s Nipple Factory. Her advocacy for women’s health and body positivity aligns perfectly with our film’s message. We are thrilled to have Mayim help “expose” this story of family unity to the world during a divided time.”
Since its launch in 2019, Bialik’s Sad Clown has produced Call Me Kat — the sitcom she led for Fox, which ran for three seasons — as well as the indie drama As They Made Us, marking Bialik’s feature directorial debut, which starred Dianna Agron, Simon Helberg, Candice Bergen and Dustin Hoffman. Best known for her Emmy-nominated starring role on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory, the actress turned filmmaker also currently has plans to produce The Maccabees, a film examining the historic achievements of the Yeshiva University Men’s Basketball Team, on which we were first to report.
Bialik is repped by UTA.
