Max celebrates “Friends” 30th anniversary with new trivia game show
"Fast Friends" will test competitors' knowledge of the iconic sitcom on recreations of classic sets from the show.
Could you be any more knowledgeable about Friends? A new show will put that to the test.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Friends, and Max is celebrating with a new show. But this new series is neither a sequel nor a reboot of the beloved NBC sitcom. Instead, it's a game show meant to test the competitors' knowledge of all things Friends.

The show, called Fast Friends, will be filmed on the series' actual sets via The Friends Experience in New York City. "From racing through Rachel and Monica’s apartment to darting across Joey and Chandler’s bachelor pad and grabbing a coffee at Central Perk, fans will re-live their favorite moments while being put to the test with trivia, puzzles, and games that will keep even the most die-hard Friends fans on their toes," promises Warner Bros.

Friends, which originally premiered in 1994, starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer as a group of young –well – friends living in New York City. The show became a huge, era-defining hit for NBC, but almost more impressively, it has remained popular on syndication and now on streaming. The series was in demand on Netflix for years until it moved exclusively to Max in 2021.
In addition to Fast Friends, Max will celebrate the show's 30th anniversary in other ways. The app will have updated key art themed to the occasion, and there will be new collections of episodes based around shared themes or content (such as all the Thanksgiving episodes, the most-watched episodes, the highs and lows of Rachel and Ross' relationship, and the greatest hits of all the main characters).

There is also new content looking back at the making of the show. Friends From the Start finds the creative team discussing the show's development, the casting process, and the obstacles they had to overcome in the early years. When Friends Become Family will explore the inspiration behind iconic episodes and scenes, while The Legacy of Friends highlights the end of the show and the pop culture legacy it has maintained for decades. Beyond Max, there's also a new TikTok effect that recreates the yellow photo frame so users can make their own photos and videos look like something out of Friends.
The Friends 2021 reunion special is also still available on Max. It marks Perry's last onscreen appearance before his death last year.
