MasterChef star Khanh Ong's surprising Christmas dessert hack

If you're looking for an easy but impressive Christmas treat, Khanh has you covered.

Former MasterChef star Khanh Ong has shared a simple Christmas dessert recipe that will make even the fussiest members of your family drool — and the best part is, it only has four ingredients.

The slice, which he labels 'Christmas Crack' is relatively simple to make but it was one Aussie pantry staple that added some shock value to the dish.

One of the four ingredients used for Khanh's dish was the humble Salada — perhaps something you haven't bothered buying since seeing it in your lunchbox as a kid slathered with butter and Vegemite.

"Really simple [recipe] but you do need to pay attention," Khanh captioned the video, admitting he had to refilm it after stuffing up part of the recipe.

As for the decorative end, he also shared some more tips. "I change between M&Ms, nuts, shredded coconut or even dried fruit and marshmallows," he said.

The other ingredients needed for the slice, minus the Saladas, are brown sugar, butter, and a good quality melting chocolate.

People were quick to compliment the sweet treat in the comments, while also praising the name.

"Omg!! I’m so making this! Thank you!!" one person commented.

"Holy s*** why have I not heard of this!" another person said. "Time to add that to my sugar addiction list! Looks great."

Some others also offered their own take on the recipe.

"I used the Macey & Taylor Pressed Pretzels instead of Saladas (and dark choc) so good!" one person shared.

Khanh also suggested the sweet treat was perfect to chop up and included in gift bags for family presents... so if you're getting low on ideas, this could be one delicious and cost-effective way to impress your parents, siblings, aunts, cousins, and that one drunk uncle everyone seems to have,
