Yahoo Lifestyle Mark Consuelos Details the Text Wife Kelly Ripa Received From Al Roker That Made Him Jealous
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been happily married since 1996, but there was a point in time in which there was some tension between them, all because of Al Roker.
The famous couple explained on their eponymous show on Feb. 4 how a text message mixup involving the Today show weatherman caused some confusion for them.
It all started when Ripa and Consuelos met Roker and his wife at an event and exchanged phone numbers with them in the hopes of getting together in the future.
But due to an issue with their cell phone provider, text messages that were meant for Ripa’s number ended up on Consuelos’ phone. Consuelos said he was in bed and Ripa was out of the room, and at the time he “was working in Canada and I was not living at home a lot.”
When he saw a text message come in from an unknown number that asked Ripa to dinner, Consuelos was not a happy camper.
Consuelos said that the text message read “Hey sweetie, when can we have dinner? Love, Al,” prompting Ripa to clear things up. “First of all, it did not say, ‘Hey sweetie,’ that’s you putting your own twist on it,” she noted.
“So when she gets back into bed I go ‘who the blank is Al?!’” Consuelos told the audience as Ripa smiled and nodded cheekily, prompting him to burst into laughter.
Ripa then explained to her husband that the Al in question was Roker, and Consuelos said that he knew. “I go ‘of course it’s Al! Of course.’”
“It was wild,” Ripa concluded before noting that they “never had that couples’ date.”
