Winter Hair Trends To Try
The It shades
Platinum blonde, icy brown and rose gold are the most popular colours. "I'm particularly loving the rose gold seen on Jessica Chastain, Rachel McAdams and Sienna Miller," enthuses Brett Albury, L'Oreal Professionnel colourist team member. He says the shade works on all lighter skin tones and especially those with blue eyes.
Monochrome
One of the easier trends to adopt, "this look is about one strong, solid colour with no highlights but loads of shine," asserts colourist Simon Bright. The pure, glossy colour is built up in layers (like multiple coats of lacquer) and "works with all hair tones, resulting in high-lift blondes, gleaming blacks, expensive-looking brunettes and dynamic redheads".
Sombre
Bright says we're moving away from too-obvious balayage and ombre, and embracing sombre (subtle ombre). "This is a softer, cascading colour effect where there is only a slight, one to two shade difference from the root colour," he explains. "This seamless blending works with the seasons trend towards less drama and more luxury."
