Margot Robbie has debuted an ‘insane’ red carpet look for the London premiere of her new film Babylon. The Aussie star chose to wear a striking red Valentino dress with no shape, hanging from her shoulders to the ground and covering her arms completely.
From the front, it looked like a rectangular pleated bedsheet, with a delicate red string looping around her neck to hold it up. While the shapeless garment didn’t seem to do the actress any favours, she stunned fans when she turned to the side. The backless dress showed off her figure nicely and the reverse cape style was unique and interesting.
The former Neighbours star matched her dress with a classic red lip and pulled her hair back loosely at the nape of her neck. She left some tendrils of hair down to frame her face sweetly.
Her polarising dress choice attracted a slew of comments from fans, with some comparing it to a ‘tent’, ‘bin bag’ and ‘a blanket’.
“I love Margot Robbie but she wears the same hairstyle and ugly dresses at every red carpet,” one fan pointed out.
“Some of these ‘fashionable’ dresses are just plain ugly. Idk why her stylist can’t get better dresses for the MARGOT Robbie,” another added.
“That dress is dreadful. It looks like a quasi-religious robe rather than a garment fit for the red carpet,” a third quipped.
“The way she’s one of the prettiest people alive and yet she rarely slays is truly something,” another remarked.
“5- year-old me throwing a blanket over myself like this to do a fashion show for my mother,” joked a fan.
On the other hand, some fans said they ‘loved’ the unique dress choice.
“Ooo this might be her first serve,” a fan wrote excitedly.
“Obsessed with this dress ngl,” another agreed.
“This look is EVERYTHING,” a third chimed in, while another called her a “beauty”.
As part of Margot’s publicity tour for Babylon, the star will make an appearance in Sydney next week. The Australian Premiere takes place on Monday 16 January at The State Theatre, with Margot and her costar Diego Calva walking the red carpet.
