MAFS' Richard surprises fans with sweet resurfaced throwback snap
MAFS' "oldest ever groom" has given fans a sneak peek to what he looked like as a teenager.
Married at First Sight groom Richard Sauerman has shared a throwback snap on his Instagram account from when he was 17.
The groom, who has won over MAFS fans with his youthful energy and beaming smile looks like a young movie star in his throwback snap, as he's caught laughing at something off-camera.
Richard has made a name for himself now on MAFS as the experiment's oldest-ever groom at age 62, marrying Andrea Thompson in a fairytale wedding earlier this season.
The move to feature an older couple again came after an insider told Yahoo Lifestyle last year that the show wanted to celebrate a more diverse cast and move away from influencers.
“Producers didn’t want another cast full of young wannabe influencers, so this year they’re including more older couples, including the oldest groom to ever appear on the show,” the insider said.

The last time the show saw a mature-age couple wed was with the matching of John Robertson and Melissa Walsh, who were 55 and 53 respectively when they appeared on the 2018 season of MAFS. The couple split shortly after season five finished airing.
Recently rumours have swirled that unfortunately Richard and Andrea don't make things work longterm, despite the fact they started as one of the show's strongest pairings.
"They're no longer a couple," an insider told Yahoo Lifestyle, going on to say the pair haven't "really kept in touch" after filming the show.
Andrea is not following Richard on Instagram on his non-MAFS account that he uses for his motivational speaking work, which may be another hint that things may not have worked out between the pair... however, he is still following Andrea and the two were spotted enjoying a coffee together just a couple of weeks ago.
