MAFS producers face serious struggle after X-rated 'controversy'
Married At First Sight producers are facing yet another struggle as they continue to film the 2023 season in Sydney.
Although the ‘controversial’ reality show is one of Channel Nine's biggest shows, Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal that bosses are finding it hard to sell advertisements and partnerships.
According to a source, the network is missing out on revenue, as the show is “too controversial for many family-friendly brands to be associated with”.
“The ratings may be great but many big brands don’t want to go near Married At First Sight as it’s too controversial and doesn’t align with their values as a business," the source says.
“The growing, and highly publicised, trend of past participants turning to porn and sex work is one of the main reasons many family-friendly brands are staying clear.”

Another source adds: “What was once a show about people finding love is now seen by most Australians as a stepping stone into sex work.”
When asked for comment, Channel Nine denied the claims and labelled them as "utterly baseless".
High-profile OnlyFans stars Jessika Power and Hayley Vernon started a trend when they joined the adult subscription-based website after their seasons of MAFS.
The stars have been open about how much they’ve earned on the platform, with Jessika pulling in an estimated $200,000 on her biggest month, and Hayley earning roughly $600,000 a year.
Hayley recently announced that not only is she an OnlyFans creator, but also has a side hustle as a high-class escort. Working for a private escort directory Scarlet Blue, the star’s fee can range from $750-$2750.
The latest season of MAFS spawned the most OnlyFans creators yet, with seven stars currently active on the platform.
Olivia Frazer, the 2022 MAFS ‘villain’, is the most successful OnlyFans creator from season nine.
She has previously bragged about making $10,000 in her first 12 hours, and also admitted to making a sex tape with her ex-boyfriend and fellow star Jackson Lonie.
While she originally dreamed of becoming a teacher, the star soon realised how lucrative work in adult entertainment can be.
