'Time for some fresh faces': MAFS experts could soon be replaced
The Married At First Sight experts John Aiken, Mel Schilling and Dr Trish Stratford could be replaced with reports they're unhappy with their salaries.
According to New Idea, the relationship experts had a "crisis meeting with producers" where they questioned their pay packets.
The mag reports John, Mel and Trish are paid $50,000 a year, and while that number has gone up as the show's popularity has increased, they apparently want more.
However, it could instead see them leave the show, rather than receive a pay rise.
A source told the publication, "It could be time for some fresh faces... MAFS viewers won't care too much if John, Trish and Mel don't return. It won't affect ratings."
They also added that the experts have "minimum input into the casting process and are fed lines by producers", therefore, they're easily replaceable.
“With the success of the series they have had salary increases, but their involvement in the show is not huge and [it] is produced within an inch of its life,” the source added.
“They meet with producers to discuss their line of attack and the different scenarios to deliver the headlines, the promos and controversy, which ultimately turns into ratings."
The insider said Nine is worried the show will go "too far" and become "even sleazier" so an overhaul may be in the show's future.
Viewers often slam the experts on social media, with many questioning their expertise.
One viewer wrote, "The experts... matching ability has a lot to be desired."

Another wrote, "I didn't expect the experts to be so good at what they do" - said no one ever other than Seb."
Seb: "I didn't expect the experts to be so good at matching me someone."
Yeah neither did they, Seb. Neither did they.#MAFSAustralia #MAFSAU #MAFS— Tim Austin (@Timaahy) March 30, 2020
Someone else added, "So 50 couples over 7 seasons and 3 are still together #MAFSAU? That’s 6% success, 94% failure. I think the experiment has FAILED. Sack the “experts” & admit it’s a trashy car crash with no scientific merit."
